Cyber Incident Reporting Initiative

The idea of the “Cyber Incident Reporting” Initiative emerged as part of the initiatives of the General Department of Cybersecurity at King Saud University. It was launched through the vision and initiative of His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al-Laheeb, with the aim of enhancing the speed of response to cyber incidents and improving the efficiency of handling them. The department’s team adopted this idea and worked on developing, refining, and transforming it into a fully integrated operational service. This was achieved through assessing needs and analyzing challenges related to reporting and response mechanisms, ultimately building an effective model that supports the protection of digital assets and elevates the level of cybersecurity readiness within the university. This initiative reflects the integration of efforts and a strong team spirit, contributing to the delivery of sustainable, practical solutions that strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem and support the university’s objectives in protecting its digital environment. This service serves as a direct channel that enables university staff to report any suspicious digital activities or practices, allowing specialized teams to take necessary actions in a timely manner, limit the spread of risks, and minimize their impact.
Reports that can be submitted include, but are not limited to:
- Phishing emails
- Account or email compromise
- Device or server compromise
- Data breaches
- Security vulnerabilities in websites and applications
- Malware and ransomware
This service emphasizes the importance of prompt reporting upon suspicion, as every report contributes to accelerating response, reducing potential impact, and enhancing the overall level of protection within the university.
