Acceptable Use Policy for Students


General Terms:

·       All users must exercise good judgment regarding the reasonableness of personal use of technological assets.

·       All users must not engage in any illegal activities such as unauthorized access, hacking, introducing harmful content to computers or viruses, or undertaking actions that could disrupt the use of devices and other assets like email, which may be punishable by law.

·       Email must be kept free of unwanted and harmful content, including phishing.


Prohibited Activities:

·       Email must not be used to create or distribute any malicious or harmful messages, including messages containing offensive content related to race, gender, age, sexual orientation, pornography, political or religious affiliations, national origin, or disability.

·       Sending unsolicited or unwelcome emails.

·       Sending or uploading malicious messages or images, or those with threatening content, or similar materials.

·       Downloading or using information or materials protected by intellectual property laws.

·       Selling, exchanging, or publishing anyone’s email addresses without their consent.

·       Using another email within the university network to carry out fraudulent schemes or deceive users in any other way.

·       Sending unauthorized messages through open relays or third-party servers.

·       Distributing malware such as viruses, worms, flaws, Trojan horses, corrupted files, or any other destructive or deceptive elements.

·       Using phishing techniques to attempt to disguise oneself under a fake identity to obtain other users’ data, such as passwords, financial details, or government-issued identification numbers.


Procedures:

·       Students must report any similar content or cybersecurity incidents immediately and contact the Cybersecurity Department via email at spam@ksu.edu.sa or through the cybersecurity incident reporting form on the Cybersecurity Department's website for necessary action.

·       University email must not be used for commercial activities unless approved by the relevant university authorities.

·       Personal information should not be transferred or disclosed to any other party.

·       Students are not allowed to exchange usernames and passwords under any circumstances.

·       Usernames and passwords for all accounts must be kept private and confidential, and they must be assigned and used securely.

·       All university students must adhere to the recommendations (Password Policy) when choosing their passwords.

·       Passwords should be changed immediately if there is any suspicion of exposure, and the Cybersecurity Department should be notified through the helpdesk system (Report a Security Incident).

·       University email users are permitted to benefit from the available features to download software through etc.ksu.edu.sa for official work purposes in administrative, academic, research, and community service areas.

·       Students have the right to subscribe to mailing lists related to work objectives, not personal ones.

·       A student's account will be disabled immediately upon completing their clearance from the university.

·       Usage is restricted in accordance with the applicable laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with no non-compliant images or use of the account. The user’s personal information, username, profile image, and related image names should not be altered to reflect anything that contradicts the Kingdom's laws or the university's published policies.
