Acceptable Use Policy for Students
General Requirements:
· All users must exercise good judgment regarding reasonable personal use of technical assets.
· All users must refrain from engaging in any illegal activities such as unauthorized access, hacking, introducing harmful software or viruses, or actions that could disrupt the use of devices and other assets such as email, which may be punishable by law.
· Email content must be kept free of unwanted, harmful, or phishing materials. Examples of undesirable content or behavior include:
- Prohibitions:
- Email must not be used to create or distribute any attacks or destructive messages, including messages containing offensive comments related to race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs, nationality, or disability.
- Pornographic material, religious or political beliefs, national origin, or disability-related offensive content is prohibited.
- Sending unsolicited or unwanted email messages is prohibited.
- Sending or uploading malicious messages or images, threatening content, or anything similar is forbidden.
- Uploading or using information or materials protected by intellectual property rights is prohibited.
- Selling, exchanging, or distributing anyone’s email addresses without their consent is prohibited.
- Using another university network email to carry out fraudulent schemes or deceive users by any means is forbidden.
- Sending unauthorized messages via open servers or third-party servers is prohibited.
- Distributing malwares such as viruses, mobile viruses, exploits, trojans, corrupted files, or any similar harmful or deceptive elements is forbidden.
- Using phishing to disguise identity fraudulently to obtain other users’ data such as passwords, financial details, or government-issued ID numbers is prohibited.
- Procedures:
- Students must immediately report any similar content or cyber incidents by contacting the Cybersecurity Department via email at spam@ksu.edu.sa or through the Cybersecurity Incident Reporting Form on the Cybersecurity Department website to take necessary action.
- University email must not be used for commercial activities unless approved by the university authorities.
- Personal information must not be transferred or disclosed to any other party.
- Under no circumstances are students allowed to share usernames and passwords among themselves.
- The privacy and confidentiality of usernames and passwords for all accounts must be maintained, assigned, and used securely.
- All university students must adhere to the recommended rules (Password Policy) when choosing their passwords.
- Passwords must be changed immediately if there is any suspicion of compromise, and the Cybersecurity Department must be informed via the technical support system (Report a Cyber Incident).
- University email users are allowed to benefit from the software download features available through etc.ksu.edu.sa for administrative, academic, research, and community service purposes.
- Students have the right to subscribe with their university account to mailing lists that serve work objectives and not personal goals.
- Student accounts will be disabled immediately upon clearance from the university.
- Usage must comply with the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Uploading inappropriate images, using the account, or changing personal information such as username, profile name, profile picture, or any titles or images that contradict the policies and laws of the Kingdom or the university’s published policies is prohibited.
